7 startups: 3 minutes to pitch: 3 venture capital funds.

Introducing the first digital pitch event held by BOLD, L’Oréal’s Venture Capital Fund.

Who’s your competition? What do customers love about your solution? How does the current crisis impact your business model?

Just three of the questions posed to seven beauty startups by investors during the first digital pitch event hosted by BOLD, the L’Oréal Corporate Venture Capital fund on Oct. 27th. Founded to support L’Oréal’s mission to create the beauty that moves the world, BOLD makes minority investments across beauty tech, sustainability, and breakthrough technologies benefiting beauty.

Here: the seven beauty disruptors selected for the first BOLD pitch event:

For the first of a series of digital pitch events to be held every six months, BOLD and L’Oréal’s open innovation accelerator at Station F selected startups across, and outside beauty: from brands, to services to analytics.

Opening doors and providing valuable insights into the investor mindset at a challenging time, each entrepreneur presented their business model to potential investors at three partner Venture Capital funds: Eutopia, Raise Ventures and Fab Co-Creation Studio Ventures.

Among unique brands talking to a new consumer: Juste Paris aims to make made-to-measure shampoo the industry standard, Monsieur Barbier makes vegan grooming products for men; and Oden creates botanical skincare harvested from traceable French grown plants.

Providing new digital services: Ma Coiffeuse Afro is a booking platform to find nearby hair or beauty salons plus browse products for black hair and skin. In non-beauty innovation impacting the logistics of beauty: B2B technology Ayolab, a retail analytics firm traces where brands are sold to maximize their ecommerce strategies.

In sustainability and solidarity: Reforestum’s traceable reforesting program uses AI and satellite imagery: and WhatRocks, a solidarity advertising label encourages brands to donate advertising campaign profits to charity.

Beyond making minority investments BOLD, which stands for Business Opportunities for L’Oréal Development, opens up connections and access to expertise across the L’Oréal Group for beauty startups.
