How L’Oréal teams proudly delivered 440,000 units Hand Sanitizer in Indonesia
Indonesia, like many other countries, is getting ready to start a new normal. Today, we found silver linings in the very difficult moments of the crisis: we see more and more people starting to practise better hygiene, more and more are also aware and committed to good causes. At L’Oréal like in many other companies, there are many positive stories to share as well. That is why we wanted to write and share how our teams from L’Oréal Indonesia took part in responding to COVID-19 pandemic.
Reacting fast to the crisis to help the people
At L’Oréal, the health and safety of all walks of life are our priorities. In the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, our two brands, L’Oréal Paris and Garnier took concrete steps to produce and distribute 440,000 units Hand Sanitizer free of charge for those are working tirelessly to make our daily life possible.
Beatrix Oktaviani as Junior Product Manager L’Oréal Paris Indonesia explained, “Every individual is worth it. With its empowerment spirit, we want to support and protect all of L’Oréal family to live their life beyond healthy, including all of our employees and hairdressers community across Indonesia.”
“In addition to that, we believe that it is our responsibility to not only take care of our employees but also our business partners and our closest front liners. This includes beauty advisors, store staffs, journalists, online transport drivers and medical workers,” added Rosyanti Chijanadi as Senior Product Manager Garnier Indonesia.
Revamping our supply chain in a record time
In order to do so, the teams worked with several partners such as NGOs, government, and distributors; to ensure that each of our communities will get this 125 ML Hand Sanitizer, as a part of the L’Oréal Indonesia COVID-19 solidarity program.
Receiving permission to produce hand sanitizer is not an easy task. Edward Idhar, New Launch Manager explained that it usually takes around 7 months from industrial brief to the product availability. “We received this Garnier hand sanitizer industrial brief by end of March 2020 and surprisingly the first batch was ready by end of April 2020. In a limited period, we managed to take care of the material procurement process and to divert our Micellar Water production line to produce this hand sanitizer with 70% alcohol. Clearly, it was a month of uphill battle full of sweat, passion and pride.”
Currently, the Supply Chain team working tirelessly to ensure this hand sanitizer distribution for free goes well. Later on, they will make Garnier hand sanitizer available at the nearest offline stores and favourite e-commerce stores to avoid the scarcity during this outbreak.
Connecting differently with people
As L’Oréal teams connecting with consumers, it was important to make them aware and help them as much as possible. What is unique about this solidarity program is enabling consumers to thank and take care of the closest front-liners. Through #TakeCare digital campaign by Garnier and #RedBeatsCovid by L’Oréal Paris, consumers had an opportunity to contribute directly to take care of their unsung heroes. Every 1 Instagram likes or hashtag shared, 1 extra hand sanitizer is converted to donate.
This pandemic also required adaptation to new ways of working to create an engaging and motivating workplace. While some colleagues were working from home, the team worked hard to create an immediate launch plan to connect together and strengthen the bonds! Passion for community and innovation is what brought the project here. We are beyond proud because together we solved all intense challenges with an additional bonus point as an act of kindness to the community.
Mohamad Fikri as CPD Communication Manager concluded, “What we learn from this hand sanitizer contribution is that ultimately it is not about who said it first but who is committed the most. Through these collective efforts, our team hopes that we can take part in every way possible to combat this pandemic in our beloved country Indonesia.
