Hi there! I’m Maia and I’m a L’Oreal baby through and through. I’m currently the brand head for L’Oreal Paris makeup, proudly managing a talented team that delivers the best of beauty to Filipinas.
The year I spent as a Management Trainee was a career rollercoaster. My batchmates and I were rotated among various roles, to provide us with holistic cornerstones as well-rounded managers. I started out as a retail specialist, and even my driver got to experience doing trade checks and store calls with me, as I didn’t know how to drive at the time. After which I was promoted by the same HR manager who had previously called me in for a few disciplinary incidents (our MT batch was notorious), to essentially handle the Corporate Communications department as L’Oreal’s PR lead, since the manager was going on maternity leave.
From there I learned very quickly how to mount events on my own and deftly deal with pick press people — my very own Devil-Wears-Prada memories. I finished off my stint as a marketing specialist for Maybelline — the same brand I would love and stay with for the next 4 years.
Managing project complexity, executing with integrity, curating beauty métier, and being fueled by pressure and passion — these were the hallmarks around which my journey centres, and I was eventually privileged enough to be expatriated to Tokyo as part of the Maybelline Asia makeup development and strategy team for 3 years. From there I unlocked a new skillset in global portfolio management, makeup formulation, digital content creation, and how to bike in the rain with one hand holding an umbrella.
The year is 2020 and now I’m back in the Philippines, “thinking globally, acting locally” as I bring to the fore my expertise, love, and passion for beauty, in every step of my L’Oreal journey.
